When a boiler is installed with a flue that is concealed inside a ceiling or a wall it is a requirement of the Gas Regulations that all flues are accessible via inspection hatches. This means that all the joints need to be inspected for gas tightness and to ensure there is no leaking carbon monoxide.

We recently had a call out to a boiler in an apartment in the West Kirby area and as part of our routine safety checks found that the flue was “at risk” because there was 6 meters of horizontal flue with only gaffa tape holding it together.

A flue needs to be supported with the correct brackets. The flue also needs to be mechanically fixed.

If you have any doubts about your flue please give Flue Check Ltd. a call.
